On May 19, admissions representatives from Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Chicago visited YCIS Qingdao for this year’s US University Fair. Secondary students in Years 9-12 attended the event, where they watched presentations and engaged in an extended question and answer session with the university representatives.
Students asked questions about topics ranging from early admissions to major selection and job prospects to dormitory life and social clubs.
In addition to their extensive one-on-one counselling with our University Guidance Counsellor, the university fair gave students a deeper look into academics and student life at some of the world’s best universities.
YCIS Qingdao University Guidance Programme
At YCIS Qingdao, Secondary students proceed towards graduation with an ever-increasing mixture of excitement and anxiety. Students look forward to the endless possibilities that a YCIS education affords them, yet are anxious and overwhelmed when confronted with the complexity and challenges involved in applying for university.
The world’s top universities are extremely selective, with many accepting less than 10% of applicants. Meanwhile, in order to filter through large pools of candidates, the application itself has becoming exceedingly complicated.
Luckily for students at YCIS Qingdao, we have a dedicated University Guidance Counsellor, Mr Ashley Mendes, to assist them throughout the application process.
Mr Mendes provides one-on-one career advice and college planning support. He assists students in completing all necessary materials required for university applications and helps prepare transcripts and reference letters for students. Additionally, Mr Mendes builds close relationships with admissions officers from top universities around the world, and often invites them to campus to speak directly with our students.
