On May 18, 2017 YCIS Qingdao held our annual Primary Sports Day. At 8 a.m., students gathered on the football pitch, chatting excitedly and eager to begin the day’s activities. Many parents also joined and were ready to cheer on their son or daughter’s house team.

Luckily, it was a perfect spring morning – reminding us of how beautiful Qingdao is during this time of year.

After a welcome message by our Co-Principals, the activities kicked off. Primary students were grouped by Year level and took turns alternating between six activity stations set up around the field. Activities included an obstacle course, Nerf Javelin throw, 80-metre sprint, long jump, high jump, and a mobility course.

At midday, everyone broke for lunch. Teachers enjoyed the time for a quick rest, while students impatiently watched the clock count down for the games to resume.

The afternoon activities were more group focused. There were relays and team competitions. Parents even got involved, joining parent-child relays!

To conclude the day, everyone moved to their classrooms where teachers passed out medals. Students then passed out at their desks, wearing happily exhausted smiles.
