William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 and students at YCIS Qingdao commemorate the works of this famous British playwright each year. On Friday, the English Department held their annual Shakespeare Birthday celebrations and every year group took part in the stage performance. There were a great variety of acts, from a two-minute version of the tragedy Macbeth, a romantic extract from Romeo and Julietand even a rap (in Korean) of a Shakespearean sonnet! Students dressed in Elizabethan costume and showed off their language learning skills. Fun was had by all and it was a great way to end the week.
